As part of the preparations for the opening of Terminal A in November, Abu Dhabi Airports is conducting its largest and most realistic live trial and testing exercise to date. The trial involves over 6,000 volunteers from the Abu Dhabi community who will participate in various scenarios that will test the equipment, personnel, and procedures in key areas of the new terminal.

Abu Dhabi Airports is preparing for the launch of its new Terminal A in November by conducting its biggest live trial and testing exercise ever, with more than 6,000 volunteers chosen from the Abu Dhabi community.

The volunteers will participate in critical simulations that aim to test the equipment, staff and procedures in key operational areas of the terminal.

The volunteers include Abu Dhabi Airports employees, as well as students, families and stakeholders from the aviation sector.

The volunteers are helping to evaluate various operations and systems, such as baggage and check-in, security screening, immigration and customs, and boarding gates. They are providing feedback on the efficiency and accuracy of the immigration process for passengers, as well as the document and customs checks. They are also testing the readiness of the boarding and departure procedures, such as scanning their boarding passes and handling changes in flight information.

Elena Sorlini, Managing Director and Interim CEO at Abu Dhabi Airports, stated, "We have been working diligently to get ready for Terminal A's launch, as we are determined to ensure the highest standards of performance and service delivery. I would like to express my gratitude to the volunteers who have joined us in these trials for their invaluable assistance as we prepare to open Terminal A to passengers in November."

Spanning 742,000 square metres of built-up area, Terminal A is one of the largest airport terminals in the world and will boost Abu Dhabi International Airport's passenger and cargo capacity supporting the emirate's economic development. With the ability to accommodate 45 million passengers per year, and process 11,000 passengers per hour, the terminal will enhance Abu Dhabi's tourism sector growth and reinforce its role as a global destination and aviation hub.
