Air India introduces self-service kiosks for baggage and check-in at Delhi airport for overseas travel
Air India's new feature lets passengers check in digitally, print boarding passes and baggage tags, and leave their luggage without using traditional check-in counters. The kiosks also allow travellers to personalise their trips by choosing seats and updating frequent flyer details, among other options.

Air India has introduced a new feature that allows its passengers to check in digitally in a hassle-free manner. By using the self-service kiosks, passengers can print their boarding passes and baggage tags, and drop their luggage without having to queue up at the check-in counters. The kiosks also enable passengers to personalise their travel experience by choosing their preferred seats and updating their frequent flyer information, among other options.
Air India has launched a new service that allows passengers to check in and drop their bags by themselves at Terminal 3 of Delhi airport, for both domestic and international flights, becoming the first Indian airline to do so.
The service is currently available for all flights to Australia and all domestic flights within India. Air India passengers can enjoy a smooth and fast check-in process, where they can print their boarding passes and baggage tags, and leave their luggage at the self-baggage drop counters, without having to visit the traditional check-in counters.
Moreover, the kiosks enable travellers to personalise their journeys by choosing their preferred seats and updating their frequent flyer details, among other options.
Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience & Ground Handling Officer, Air India, said, “This facility reduces the queue waiting time for check-in over the counters and helps travellers to almost breeze through the airport. We not only plan to extend this for flights to more countries around the world but also aim to introduce it at other airports in India as well as major airports worldwide. Our constant effort is to simplify processes and enhance customer experience, allowing our guests to enjoy travelling as much as we love flying them.”
The self-baggage drop facility is in line with the successful implementation of the DigiYatra initiative for domestic flights, which adds convenience for travellers from hassle-free airport entry to managing the check-in process independently.
Air India also recently announced ‘Project Abhinandan,’ which involves deploying specially trained Service Assurance Officers at 16 major Indian airports to proactively address passenger concerns and provide on-ground assistance across various airport touchpoints.
