Australia's High Commissioner to India Philip Green highlighted the strong people-to-people ties between the two nations and said that India was the first country to surpass the pre-pandemic levels of travel to Australia.
He also said that the direct flights between the two countries have increased significantly.
"The people of Australia and India are the living bridge that connects our two countries. Australian PM @AlboMP was among the 100,000 Australians who visited India in the last year, which is twice as many as before Covid-19. India is the first country to exceed (and outdo) the pre-pandemic levels of travel to Australia. The direct flights have almost tripled! #dosti," the Australian High Commissioner posted on X.
Previously, on the occasion of Hindi Diwas, the Australian envoy shared a video on X, saying, "Hindi is not only popular in Australia, but also among our diplomats stationed in Delhi. Today, on #HindiDiwas, our diplomats are sharing with you their favourite Hindi sayings that motivate them."
The Prime Minister's Office issued an official statement saying that PM Modi replied to the Australian High Commissioner's post.
In his response, PM Modi wrote on his X account, "Your verses and proverbs are captivating! This affinity of Australian diplomats towards Hindi is very fascinating."
In August, Green presented his credentials to President Droupadi Murmu and expressed his eagerness to enhance the "Dosti" (friendship) between the two countries.
"I begin as Australia's 22nd High Commissioner to #India. I am keen to strengthen our relations - as PM @narendramodi has said, they are based on mutual trust and respect. #dosti@SenatorWong," he wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
The security sphere is one of the areas where Australia and India share new levels of convergence of interest. The economic sphere is another, where the dynamic Indian economy and the rich natural resources of Australia offer a perfect complementarity. The human sphere is the third, where the growing Indian diaspora in Australia forms a vital and vibrant bridge between our two great nations.
The Australian High Commissioner to India also stated that he has received a clear mandate from Prime Minister Modi and Prime Minister Albanese. They want to take this relationship to new heights and new speeds. That is his goal," Green said.
